Running Strollers

Sneakers and clothing are often considered guilty pleasures of runners… but my favourite piece of running gear is my running stroller!

What do Mom on the Run Club members recommend in a running stroller?

  • 3 wheels instead of 4 for better maneuverability over uneven terrain

  • a front wheel that can lock in place (wheels that do not lock can get caught on tree roots, gravel or uneven areas of pavement - when that happens, the stroller could tip over)

  • wheels that can be inflated/deflated depending on the terrain you will be running over, to allow for a smooth ride

  • shocks to help provide a smooth ride, both for your little passengers as well as for ease of pushing

  • a wrist least

  • a hand brake for quick stopping

  • a sun shade

  • the ability to attach a well fitting weather shield for wind/rain/snow

  • an easily accessible cargo area for snacks, clothing, sunscreen etc.

  • quick reach pockets for your phone and keys (bonus if they can zip shut)

  • easy to fold, and compact for car trunks

  • resale value

Favourite Brands:

  • BOB - BOB Gear offers a variety of jogging strollers, for both one and two passengers. There is no hand brake, but it folds easily, can handle trails with ease, comes in a variety of colours and is more budget friendly than some other jogging stroller brands.

  • Thule Urban Glide 2 - this stroller has the much desired hand brake, and a one-handed compact fold. A fantastic jogging stroller, but definitely on the pricier side.
